Mojo in Memory Of

Mojo in Memory Of

Last night Mojo died. I figure I must have fed him too much. Little fish totally depended on me to take care of him. Nearly two years I’ve had this fish and now he is gone by my mistake. These fish will eat and eat and eat until they die. As owner you have to be so careful. I was feeding the fish three times a day and with various foods. Mojo bloated up, floated upside down, and then died. My tank only has four fish now and I miss Mojo. From now on I am only going to feed the fish twice a day with granular food which settles on the bottom of the tank.

This is the last photo and entry for Mojo. I buried him outside underneath a tree and I feel rotten.

Fancy Goldfish and Budda

Fancy goldfish do originate from China  and I do have a bonsai tree in the tank, seems only fitting to have a little Budda as well.  Have to admit these fish bring a lot of peace and contentment into my life.

Sun is doing so much better.  He is pictured on the bottom left in this photo.  He is swimming around and is much more frisky.  Quite an improvement since his Wen Trim Surgery.

It is hard to believe Wabbi-Sabbi, Oranda on the bottom right, was completely gray when he was smaller.  It is amazing watching these fish grow.  They are constantly changing in shape and form right in front of my eyes.

Mojo and Me

Mojo, like all my fancy goldfish, is very pretty.  I enjoy watching and feeding them.  I also enjoy taking photos and sharing their story.  Mojo is my oldest for I’ve had him for nearly two years.  I had a goldfish, “Fish” for a couple of years before Mojo, but Fish died.  Fish was my first goldfish and Mojo is my Second.  My hopes are to keep all five of my fish for many years to come.  Their life and all the experiences with them I intend to share on this blog.

Fancy Fish Dining on Saki Hikari

Recently I purchased some Saki-Hikari Fancy Goldfish food from Foster and Smith Aquatics.  These are very small granules which sink to the bottom and my fish simply love them.  For experiment I put in a few floating pellets and some flakes along with the Saki-Hikari.  The fish ignored the pellets and flakes moving the small pebbles like little earth moving machines to get to the Saki-Hikari.

Quartet of Four Fancy Goldfish

Mojo swimming straight down acting the clown.

He is so pretty even upside down.

The Dragon heading upwards with a destination in mind.

His colors so elegant and refined.

Wabi-Sabi going forward with great determination,

Seeking further wisdom of his vocation.

Little Barri, the growing lion. moves on ahead,

As delicate as a caterpillar may tread.

Each and every one a pet,

These four making a great quartet.

Five Fancy Goldfish ~ Video

They say an Oranda can live up to 30 years. I certainly hope so for these five will supply so much to write about. I’ve learned about the water cycle and some other basics, but I’ve always been one to make mistakes. My goal is to raise these fish for as many years as possible. Based on my age, they could possibly out live me.

I’m looking into the veterinarian hospital at Kansas State University and with a local veterinarian as far as removing the Wen around Sun’s eyes. I am going to have this done, but my concern is, is it too soon to do so? Sun’s Wen has grown over his eyes in just a couple of months or so. His Wen is still growing. If I have it trimmed now, will it grow back and cover his eyes again? He eats just fine, but I want him to be able to see.

I hope you enjoy the video and get an idea of my Fish Family and what they mean to me.

Mojo my Red Cap Oranda

Several years back I started with a ten gallon tank from Walmart. I filled the tank with a Ryukin and a Cory Cat. The Ryukin’s name was “Fish”. Ok so I did not have much of an imagination. Anyways, I had Fish for little over a year. At the end he stopped eating and was becoming listless. Without a clue of water conditions, just using human logic, I figured he needed a friend to keep him company so I got him Mojo the Red Cap Oranda. Mojo’s name came from his diuties to Fish which was to give him more Mojo to go on and live. Surprisingly Fish did live a few months longer until my lack of attention to water conditions killed him. I felt awful when Fish died. I buried him out by the wood fence where I had some new bushes planted. Since then those particular bushes have grown beautifully.

I suppose this new blog is going to represent from the time of Fish’s Death until the future. Mojo will help as he did with Fish, to give me the Mojo to put forth the comings and goings of my Five Beautiful Goldfish as well as my dogs and cats.

Hope you will enjoy the ride.
